Project: The Spa Hotel at Ribby Hall Village, Lancashire
Client: Ribby Hall Village
Full commission for the design, fabrication and installation of a bespoke staircase for a new multi-million pound hotel and spa at Ribby Hall Village.
This project included a feature staircase and a balustrade to the 1st floor landing. The staircase is positioned over an ornamental pool which is divided in half by a floor to ceiling glass facade which separates the ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ areas of the spa complex.
Working from the architect's concept, Metal Fabrications UK suggested an alternative design for the single spine staircase which provided a clean one-piece finish with a contemporary geometric shape. The client was keen to pursue the suggested alternative following demonstration of a mock-up at the client's office.
The staircase comprises grade 316 stainless steel with polished finish, 70mm thick solid beech treads and toughened glass balustrades with Avant Garde slotted handrail. The landing cladding and tread end caps are also provided in Beech hardwood.
The glass facade which interacts with the staircase was provided by others. Metal Fabrications UK worked closely with the additional designers to ensure the two designs were accurately brought together at the interfaces.
Metal Fabrications UK provided detailed CAD drawings to each of its suppliers to ensure that all parts were accurately manufactured to enable them to be seamlessly brought together on site.
